Earthquake in Chile

Dear Brothers,

The awful earthquake in Chile destroyed a number of Lodges and the Grand Lodge of Chile is doing its very best to assist those Lodges but sadly the new government in Chile appears to be anti-Masonic and in the areas hardest hit by the earthquake are attempting to acquire the Lodge sites without compensation to the Lodges unless the Lodge can rebuild.

A member of the Lodge was in Chile assisting with the relief in the Talca valley area which was very hard hit. Sadly the Grand Lodge of Chile is not in a financial position to assist this area. The Calgary Masonic Board of Relief has established a fund to assist the Talca area Masons and the address is The Calgary Masonic Board of Relief, 3221 Cedarille Drive SW, Calgary, Alberta T2W 2N2, Canada.

This Board solicits your assistance due to the wide circulation of your e-mail address system. The Grand Lodge of Alberta has given its tacit approval to this fund raising request and for confirmation the phone number of the Grand Secretary is 403-262-1140. My phone number is 403-238-0664. The need is very real and I am sure the Masons of the Talca Valley would appreciate any assistance they would receive. Checks please make them out to the Calgary Masonic Board of Relief.
Your consideration and assistance in this matter would be very much appreciated.

Sincerely and fraternally yours
Larry Watson Secretary/Treasurer of the Calgary Masonic Board of Relief

Chivalric Orders

The Chivalric Orders

Chivalric Orders Encampment
Chivalric Orders Encampment

The Chivalric Orders are a set of three Orders culminating in the grade of Knight Templar, and controlled by that body. This body is markedly different from its foreign counterparts, in that it exhibits a paramilitary structure and outlook on Masonry, being the only branch of Masonry in the world that is a uniformed body. Its requirement that its members be professed Christians has led to calls of condemnation from other Masonic bodies and organizations both inside and outside the United States, claiming that the body is more of a Christian organization rather than a Masonic body.
